August was an exciting month for gamers on PlayStation, with new titles like Madden NFL 24, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. But which game emerged as the top contender? In the US and Canada, Madden NFL 24 took the crown as the most-downloaded game on PS5, securing victory for EA’s long-running sports series. Meanwhile, Minecraft claimed the top spot for PS4 in the same region, with Madden NFL 24 following closely behind.
Over in the US and Canada, Firewall Ultra dominated the PSVR 2 charts, while Fortnite continued its reign as the most-downloaded game overall. In Europe, however, the most-downloaded PS5 game wasn’t Madden NFL 24 or From Software’s latest offering, but Grand Theft Auto V. Madden NFL 24 debuted in 12th place on that list, which isn’t surprising considering American football’s limited popularity in Europe, especially with the Rugby World Cup approaching.
EA recently announced that Madden NFL 24 broke a digital sales record for a single week and attracted more players during its first week compared to Madden NFL 23. Xbox and PlayStation players can also enjoy a free global trial of the game until September 10. In Europe, Minecraft claimed the top spot on PS4, while Firewall Ultra dominated the PSVR 2 charts. And of course, Fortnite remained the most-downloaded free-to-play game in that region.
